Acting Chairman’s Report
From the outset, the birth of shiretrust has been difficult, confusing, too long, and at the same time wonderfully worthwhile.
From a group of people meeting one night to discuss what we could do to help the football club has emerged something which will last, will have some substance and which can make a positive contribution to the general aim of helping East Stirlingshire Football Club.
We have had to follow a path established in law for forming this trust, which is a serious undertaking. Firstly, we had to make sure there was a general will to make the organisation happen. This was forthcoming, which allowed us to move to a formal launch. The event, with our local MSP and Councillor, was well attended and well thought of by those who were there.
There has been lots happening behind the scenes, not all of which will be apparent to those who have joined the trust and paid for the privilege of doing so. But there is only so much an acting committee can do, and the fact we have all jobs to fit in around has made things seem slightly fraught.
We can only hope we have taken you with us.
There is a dream, to buy some community ownership of the football club, to promote its virtues and to help, where we can, breathe some fresh life into the old institution.
The election of a proper committee will allow us to start doing all of those things.
People have been patient with us. They have asked for plans, for ideas, for action. We have been honest and said the time for action is later.
Not so now. We will pass from the setting up phase to the active phase for the trust and that should allow people to participate, feel involved and make a difference.
