shiretrust Quiz Night
I am pleased to report the quiz night was a big success with 13 teams taking part. Treasurer Drummond informs me we made in the region of £550 altogether, which is excellent considering this was our first shiretrust` event`. The winning team was `Rab na na`s` who scooped the £100 1st prize. I want to sincerely thank those who took part for supporting the quiz night and give a well earned pat on the back to my fellow committee members Drummond, Tad, Linda, Scott and Ian.
The first photo shows the hall filling up before the start of the quiz with the ultimate winner looking rather nonchalant prior to the proceedings.
The scorers can be seen hard at work with the grey matter fairly being churned as they try to keep on top of the arithmetic.
Despite,
or perhaps because, of sticking to soft drinks, or has something been
smuugled in? These guys held up the fine tradition of the Shire by finishing
as winners of the Spooooooon of the wooden variety.
Here
the leader of the wining team seems a bit more under pressure than in
the first photo but he ultimately brought his team to the top of the
leader board. Well dione Rab's Na Na's.
Final scores and placings are shown below.
Thanks to all for taking part and making this such a successful night for shiretrust.

The auction part of the quiz night was very profitable for the trust mostly because we were fortunate enough to have some very desirable items - which made some of the bidding quite competitive! `Shire top signed by the current squad was sold for an very impressive £95 Falkirk championship T-shirt signed by Falkirk squad went for a reasonable £40 Celtic v `Shire programme from 29th Feb 1964 (`leap years day`) sold for an excellent £29 The `Shire v Stenhousemuir New Year prog (Unsold version) was withdrawn from the auction - in its place was: History of Littlewoods Pools (1923-2003), book signed by Rodger Hunt, Tony Green, Gordon Banks, David Sadler, Brian Labone and Ian Callaghan - sold for a fair price of £22 set of single signed gloves by the current Chelsea squad keepers (Chec, Cuddicini, Pidgeley) sold for a good price of £70 Man Utd No11 top signed by Ryan Giggs was sold for the biggest amount on the night - an extremely impressive £170! A big thank you to club sponsors Littlewoods for obtaining the Littlewoods Pools book and the Man Utd top for us and to shiretrust members for getting their hands on the other items - a very good effort.
